How are veneers made?
Our dental studio employs advanced Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) CAD/CAM technology to manufacture veneers. The process starts with taking digital impressions of your teeth, guaranteeing a precise and comfortable fit.
These digital models are then used to design the veneers, which are subsequently stained and glazed to match the colour of your existing teeth flawlessly. The final porcelain veneers are prepared in our in-house laboratory, ensuring quality and speed.

What does the veneer application process entail?
Placing the veneers at Melrose Dental Studio involves several precise and carefully executed steps:
- Preparation: The teeth receiving veneers are lightly buffed to prepare the surface for bonding. This step involves minimal removal of the tooth’s surface (about half a millimetre) to accommodate the veneer’s thickness.
- Impression Taking: After the teeth are prepared, a mould or impression of the area is taken. This impression is then used to create your custom veneers.
- Veneer Creation: Using CEREC technology, your veneers are crafted on-site. During this time, they are customised for colour and shape to guarantee a natural look.
- Bonding: Before permanently bonding the veneers, Dr Edwin Alberts will temporarily place them on your teeth to examine their fit and colour. Any necessary adjustments are made to ensure the perfect fit and colour appearance.
- Cementing: When the veneers are ready, your teeth are cleansed with special chemicals to achieve a durable bond. A special cement is then placed between the veneer and your tooth, and a visible light beam initiates the cement to harden quickly.
